Super-heavy goods are a special type of goods that are difficult to transport. Therefore, during the transportation process, it is necessary to pay a lot of attention to the safety of workers, goods and surrounding factors.

In this article, PPL would like to share a few safety measures in transporting super-heavy goods for everyone to refer to before proceeding with the project.

1. Safety for workers

People are the first important factor to pay attention to in the process of doing work. Safety measures for workers include:

- Labor protection:
Fully equipped with labor protection equipment for officers and employees: protective clothing, helmets, gloves, iron-toed shoes, safety belts... and other protective equipment specialized households suitable for each case.

- Training the workforce: Regularly organize skill training classes to improve awareness and skills on occupational safety in accordance with the State's regulations.

- Sense of responsibility of employees:

+ Absolutely follow the instructions of the investor's safety supervision department during the construction process in the construction site, in the safe area, in the isolation barrier, in the safe distance...

+ After any rest periods in the process, the construction safety supervisor must check around the equipment to make sure that there has been no change since the work was suspended for rest. .

- Assignment of work: During the process of receiving relocation, loading and unloading, there must always be a standing officer to direct the scene, check the technical and safety status of vehicles and equipment and promptly detect abnormal signs, and take immediate action.

2. Safety in the process of transporting super-heavy goods

2.1. Safety in loading and unloading goods

- Load: Do not exceed the load specified in the design documents provided by the manufacturer.

- Technical safety check:

+ Check the technical condition of lifting equipment before implementation: structure, lifting cables, brake system, crane hook... the loading and unloading vehicles must be licensed by the registry for safety in duration.

+ Loading and unloading goods by manual scissors, safety of goods ensures that there is no problem due to the progressive loading and unloading, the parcel is always balanced without more than 10cm apart at each end.

- Operator: should have experience, be trained in safety in loading and unloading to carry out projects of oversized, oversized and oversized cargo.

2.2. Safe transportation of goods

- Before shipping:

+ It is necessary to check the technical condition of the vehicle before carrying out the transportation of super-heavy goods. Vehicles must be within the period of circulation of the registry, the equipment and tools attached must be adequate and safe.

+ Means of water transport must have lifebuoys, signal lights, water pumping equipment, ...

+ Road vehicles check the system of wheels, lights, signal lights, brake systems, hydraulic oil pipes, etc., not to exceed the load specified in the vehicle's circulation permit.

+ Fastening, firmly lining the goods to the means of transport with chains, cables... Ensure the parcel does not move during each stage of transportation. The center of gravity of the package is placed on the vehicle's axis of symmetry with an error of no more than 1/100 of the vehicle's width.

- During transport:

+ Always monitor the weather, tide... to take preventive measures and take timely action, the operation center is in regular contact with the vehicle operator to inform the progress of the shipment.

+ On ramps with a speed of not more than 5km/h, hydraulic trailers must have an automatic braking system. Bad pavement is reinforced by spreading gravel or sandbags into potholes, spreading steel sheet 12-20 mm of road surface if it has to go through a small-sized underground sewer.

+ It is necessary to take measures to overcome obstacles: contact competent authorities to ensure traffic safety such as police, electricity and telecommunications management agencies to prevent power lines from crossing the route...

- After the transportation process: Goods transported to the construction site and unloading must be stored, lined with soil, wood, and sleepers to prevent subsidence, and the load pressure on the surface of the yard at the construction site project implementation.

2.3. Managing risks during loading and unloading

Loading and unloading vehicles need to strictly follow the schedule of inspection and maintenance. Before moving, loading and unloading STST packages, safety checks are conducted in accordance with current standards.

 

2.4. Weather factors in transporting super-heavy goods

When carrying out loading and unloading, transporting super-heavy goods, engineers, officials and employees must always monitor the weather.

2.5. Fire prevention and environmental sanitation

- For vehicles:

+ For vehicles participating in the construction of super-heavy projects, they must be fully equipped with fire prevention and fighting tools in accordance with regulations set forth by State, local and sector agencies.

+ For motorbikes, construction equipment is a new vehicle that must ensure environmental sanitation. All vehicles involved in the construction are tested for technical safety and environmental protection.
4- For officers and employees - employees:

+ Officers - employees are regularly guided and practiced fire prevention by specialized agencies. Strengthen inspection and timely detection of fire and explosion risks and omissions to take immediate remedial measures.

+ Prohibit smoking indiscriminately, against regulations in the construction site.

During the construction process, ensuring environmental hygiene is a top priority. All employees, after completing each stage of construction, must collect tools and waste (if any). Ensure to keep the current status of the ground as when receiving the site for construction.

+ Strictly manage and safely use explosives, heat sources, fire sources, heat-generating equipment and tools. Explosive materials must be isolated and stored separately during transportation and handling.
