GIA LAI ELECTRICITY JOINT STOCK COMPANY (GEG): Commencement of 100MW offshore power project in the second quarter of 2022

Gia Lai Electricity Joint Stock Company (GEG) has just approved the investment plan for the Tan Phu Dong 1 Wind Power Plant Project. This is an offshore wind power project in Tan Phu commune, Tan Phu Dong district. Tan Thanh commune, Go Cong Dong district, Tien Giang province.

The capacity scale is 100MW, the expected electricity output is 292.63 GWh/year. Funds are made from equity capital and bank loans.

The construction progress of the project is expected as follows:

- Quarter 1, 2022: Completing EPC General Contractor Contract, TSA Contract and placing orders.

- Quarter 2/2022: Commencement and implementation of the project.

- Quarter 3/2022: Completion of foundation construction and installation of wind pillars.

- Quarter 4/2022: Strive to complete the construction, installation, energizing and putting into operation.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has asked the Prime Minister to direct localities to temporarily suspend the issuance of investment policies for wind power and solar power projects that have approved national electricity development planning but have not yet been approved. deployed until January 26, 2022 to wait for the results of the review during the construction and completion of the Electricity Master Plan VIII directed by the Government.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed to the Prime Minister to allow Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) to negotiate with investors for approved projects with investment policies up to January 26. 2022 but not yet eligible to apply the fixed electricity selling price (FIT) mechanism to determine the electricity purchase price within the electricity generation price bracket promulgated by the Ministry.

Previously, EVN had just reported to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on COD results of wind power projects by the end of October 31, 2021. Accordingly, only nearly 60% of projects and projects have been put into commercial operation (COD) from 2011 to November 1, 2021 with a total capacity of approximately 4GW out of a total of 8.2GW registered. contract with EVN to enjoy a preferential price (FIT) of 8.5 cents/kWh (1,927 VND) for onshore wind power and 9.8 cents/kWh (2,223 VND) for offshore wind power. Of which there are 15 projects. Partially COD capacity is 325.15 MW and total non-COD capacity is 1,031.1 MW.

The projects that reach the finish line on time are mainly onshore and undersea projects stretching from Quang Binh to Ca Mau.
