Tai Tam Wind Power Project
PPL is responsible for transporting 12 wind turbine towers for the Tai Tam Quang Tri Wind Power Plant project – a large-scale renewable energy project in Central Vietnam, requiring precise, safe, and on-schedule oversized and overweight transportation solutions.
Goals & Scope of Work
- The project aims to exploit the wind energy potential of the Quang Tri region, contributing to the supply of clean electricity and promoting local socio-economic development.
- PPL is responsible for all aspects of transporting wind turbine equipment from Hon La Port (Quang Binh) to the construction site, ensuring timely completion and absolute safety.
Key Challenges
- The equipment is oversized and overweight, with the heaviest package weighing 86.9 tons and measuring 70 meters in length.
- The terrain in Central Vietnam is hilly and steep, with a 245 km route including many narrow curves and weak bridges.
- Continuous stormy weather significantly impacted the construction schedule.
- The requirement was to complete all transportation within a short timeframe, just 28 days.
Solutions & Deployment
- PPL established a dedicated project team comprising 60 operational and technical personnel, and mobilized 15 specialized vehicle fleets imported from Germany and Italy (over 90% new).
- The engineering team closely monitored the transportation process, coordinating flexibly to respond to adverse weather conditions, ensuring absolute safety for goods along the entire 245 km route.
