Kanfa Module Transportation and Launching Project at PV Shipyard Port Phase 2
The project to transport and launch two Kanfa modules at PV Shipyard port took place from March 4th, 2022 to March 10th, 2022, and was undertaken by PPL.
Goals & Scope of Work
- Project Name: Loadout of 2 Kanfa Modules
- Work: Transportation and launching of 2 modules
- Weight per package: Approximately 600 tons
- Dimensions per package: 17m x 8.6m x 25m
- Execution time: March 4, 2022 - March 10, 2022
Key Challenges
The transportation and launching of the two modules at PV Shipyard were successful despite challenging terrain and obstacles. However, with experience in transporting oversized and overweight cargo, PPL successfully and safely loaded out the two modules.
Solutions & Deployment
To ensure the safe and secure transportation of the two modules, PPL's experts and staff meticulously planned and calculated technical parameters, and most importantly, monitored the water level to maintain balance between the barge and the surrounding water during the loading process.
During the project, PPL used the SPMT self-propelled hydraulic trailer to move the modules from the dock to the barge, arranging them in order. The process was smooth, safe, and on schedule.
In addition, to monitor weather conditions, PPL installed equipment to track weather and tidal levels, enabling them to proactively monitor water levels throughout the project.
Results & Effectiveness
Through the projects it has undertaken, PPL has increasingly affirmed its position and solid capabilities in the field of logistics in general and the field of oversized and overweight cargo transportation in particular.
